Bio-Psycho-Social Model & Hollistic Approach

The term biopsychosocial encompasses the idea that an individual’s health and well-being are determined by 3 Factors:

  1. Biological Factors:
such as genetics or physiology, neurological processes, hormonal
  2. Psychological Factors:
such as emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
  3. Social Factors:
such as cultural norms, socioeconomic status, and interpersonal relationships

These can play a significant role in shaping an individual’s overall health outcomes. The biopsychosocial model is a way of understanding how health and well-being are influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. This model explains the significant interactions among why and how these three factors influence the presenting symptoms (distress or illness). In TCC, we strongly apply this model as our fundamental approach as it provide us a comprehensive way of understanding your well-being by considering various connections between your physical health, mental health and social environment. Thus, it provides us a foundation for a more personalized and holistic approach to meet your current needs and goals and improve your general well-being.

By satisfying the lover-level needs (physiological, security, social and esteem needs), people can move on to the next level of needs and it is an important process to avoid unpleasant feelings or outcome.
